World's Ending

Arise! Arise, riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered - a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now! Ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin, and the world's ending!

I think my favorite character in the Silmarillion is Finrod Felagund.

Maybe it's because he seems really compassionate towards the race of men, or because he's wise, or courageous (taking on a terrible creature to save another's life), or simply cool (facing down Sauron in a singing contest).

In any case, he seems like a pretty cool guy to sit down with and talk. As a matter of fact, Tolkien wrote out a conversation between Finrod and a Wise Woman of Men. Christopher Tolkien included it with the odds and ends in Morgoth's Ring. It's inside this long conversation that interesting aspects of Tolkien's work are revealed.

However, I'll reveal them later. I have work to do.
